THEATRE Prithvi Theatre Festival at Prithvi Theatre
This year, the annual festival will have seven plays by theatre groups from Mumbai, Pune and Delhi, plus platform performances and music concerts. Aside from the opening play, Abhishek Majumdar's Kaumudi (Hindi), all the plays will be premiering at the festival. PHOTOGRAPHY Shumon Ahmed at Project 88
The Bangladeshi artist's debut solo show in India has works from two series of photographic prints: the recent When Dead Ships Travel and an earlier body of work titled Metal Graves. MUSIC MTV Indies Xtreme with Slash, featuring Miles Kennedy and the Conspirators, at Reliance JIO Garden
The music channel is bringing ex-Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash to our shores with his current band, which is fronted by former Alter Bridge vocalist Miles Kennedy. Expect a set list dominated by tunes from their 2014 album World On Fire, their debut Apocalyptic Love, Slash’s sole eponymous solo album and of course, a few GNR hits. Akash Khurana will direct this English version of Vijay Tendulkar’s landmark 1981 Marathi play Mitrachi Goshta. The story hinges on the romantic relationship between two college students, Mitra and Nama, which is complicated by Nama’s boyfriend Dalvi. Nama frustrates Mitra by carrying on with Dalvi despite their regular sexual liaisons. Nama eventually marries another man, driving Mitra to suicide. ART Unpacking the Studio: Celebrating the Jehangir Sabavala Bequest at the Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation
This exhibition comprises the late artist's paintings and personal articles such as diaries, sketchbooks and portfolios that were donated by his wife Shirin Sabavala to the Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation, which is housed inside the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya. Tickets to enter the museum are priced at Rs 20 per head for children aged 5-12, Rs 70 per head for Indians above the age of 12, and Rs 300 per head for foreigners above the age of 12. Free entry for children below the age of five.
